About Phi Lamb
Welcome to the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Lambda!
Founded here at the University of Texas in 1988, Sigma Phi Lambda is a Christian sorority that strives to glorify God by providing a source of fellowship for college women who seek to know His person, His will, and His ways. Through weekly meetings that include worship, encouragement, fellowship, and accountability, Phi Lamb offers a fun sisterhood of women dedicated to following Christ.
Sigma Phi Lambda is not presently, nor will it ever be Panhellenic.
Our Purpose
Our Verse
Sigma Phi Lambda exists for the sole purpose of glorifying our Lord Jesus Christ and making His name great.
ROMANS 15: 5 - 6
"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus so that with one heart and one mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."
What We Believe
Our statement of belief is the Apostles' Creed, one of the oldest and most unifying statements of faith in the history of the Christian faith:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead. On the third day, he rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, in the holy catholic* Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
*The word catholic is used in this context to mean universal.
